$15 Drop In or ($40 for Complete Course)  Drums are provided.

Workshops are open to anyone who would like to gain experience in Middle Eastern rhythms. Instruments will include the Doumbek (Darbuka, Derbeki, Arabic tabla), Riq, (Arabic tambourine) and Dar (frame drum) will focus on the common rhythms (Beladi, Maqsoum, Chifte Telli, Masmoudi, Sa'idi, Ayube) and techniques used in creating the beautiful sounds of these unique instruments. Topics include Nomenclature, Finger Exercises, Combinations, Improvisations, Fills, Positioning and Basic Notation. For further information call (250) 763-3951

BIO

Trevor Salloum studied music at York University. His studies have taken him to Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. He has studied with Mohammed Sadek, Michel Merhej Baklouk, Dr. George Sawa and Ebrahim Eleish and worked with dancers Diane Calenti, Nahida, Hadia, Rahma, Sarita and other dancers of Raq Sharki. He is a best selling author with Mel Bay Publications including "The Art of Arabic Drumming”.
